Chapter History
The Mu Chapter of Sigma Omega Nu was established at Sonoma State University on April 22, 2012 by eleven strong-willed women. The Mesmerizing Mu's wish to provide Sonoma State University with an organization where all women from all walks of life are welcomed. Sigma Omega Nu, Mu Chapter strongly focuses on academics and feels that this organization can help bring women closer together as well as offer a support system on Sonoma State Campus. You will become family. Being of diverse backgrounds, it is important for Sigma Omega Nu to respect and accept other cultures as their own. Sigma Omega Nu is constantly expanding, but for us size is not everything, we prefer quality over quantity.
Philanthropy
As an organization, Sigma Omega Nu feels that community service and giving back to our communities is of high priority.
Our philanthropy is Verity, Sonoma County's Sexual Assault Prevention, Intervention and Healing Center.
They provide resources to survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking. We work with Verity to support and promote sexual awareness. Every year we put together a series of small events during April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, as well as fundraise for Verity.
